Kurt King

Pastoral Counselor

Kurt King is a credentialed Elder in the United Methodist Church.  He specializes in spiritual counseling, clarifying a client’s direction, prayer habits, financial budgeting, and accountability with men’s issues.  Kurt has experience working with individuals who feel stuck in life or on their spiritual journey.

Kurt says, “Spiritual movement happens when clients put into motion what they hear from God.”  He knows what it looks like to have vital spiritual disciplines that strengthen a person’s faith in God and love for their neighbor.  Also, he knows the challenge individuals experience when they are hurt by folks (family, friends, co-workers, church people), whether intentionally or unintentionally.  Kurt provides a calming and tender presence with words of encouragement that express care and healthy challenge at the same time.  Clients will leave their sessions with a greater clarity of their spiritual purpose and being valued as children of God.

Kurt has served as a local pastor in Southern Ohio for over 34 years. Kurt and his wife, Annie, have been blessed to be relationship with a diverse group of individuals, city and country, urban and sub-urban, families and singles, baby boomers and millennials.

Kurt earned his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Management from Morehead State University (1985). Following college, he earned a Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary (1991) and has served United Methodist churches from 1987 to 2021.  He recently retired from being a local pastor, and now partners with Annie King Counseling where he works as the Administer and spiritual counselor for interested clients.

Kurt has accumulated experience in the following areas: pre-marriage counseling and weddings, funerals and grief counseling, Myers-Briggs Personality Traits, and successful financial budgeting. (Kurt also loves talking about a person’s enneagram number.) He identifies closely as a “3.”

Kurt is married to Annie and together they have 4 millennial children. Kurt and Annie learn quite a bit from them about what the future will look like through their eyes and views.  Kurt began his journey with Jesus on July 2, 1980 and follows in his footsteps daily.  He enjoys construction/remodeling work around the house and hiking with Annie on the many beautiful trails in southern Ohio.
